Can help a party avoid being attacked by many animals. PCs should stay close to the person with the animal empathy skill when in the wild - if the barbarian runs off a long way in front, animals may still attack her even if a druid or ranger is in the party.

Persuade and appraise are both used to affect how friendly a merchant is towards a PC. The highest skill is used - there is no point puttng points into appraise if you already have the persuade skill.
